Frequently Asked Questions.

Animal Air Rescue offers emergency air transport and aeromedical vet care services to help animals in critical need throughout Australia.

Question: How many animals can you take on a flight?

Answer: This depends on the plane or planes we use for the rescue mission. Weight, balance and safety are all large considerations when flying and there are many elements to consider.

Question: Why do you take a vet on the flight?

Answer: Because we want to offer the best care to the animals in need. A lot of the time we are flying to remote areas and assisting in a rescue of animals who are in a critical state. Being able to offer them immediate care on arrival and throughout their flight is a service we are proud to offer.

Question: Flying is expensive, why don’t you just drive?

Answer: Animal Air Rescue isn’t looking to offer the cheapest transport solution. If road transport is possible and won’t endanger the animal, we recommend and encourage that as the primary option. We strive ourselves in offering emergency air transport to save animals who are in critical need. When time is limited and lives at risk this is where our team and services should be engaged.

Question: How is each flight and rescue paid for?

Answer: At this stage we rely on donations and contributions from our community to fund the direct costs of the services we offer. All pilots, vets and rescue crew particapants volunteer their time and expertise completely free.

Question: Who uses your services and why?

Answer: We work closely with a range of established animal rescue and rehabilitation charities, organisations and non-for-profits. Typically they will have an animal rescue transport need that goes beyond standard road solutions or is highly time critical. In this case they will deem Animal Air Rescue be the required service to partner with and we are then contacted and engaged.

Question: Can I request your services if i’m an individual and not a rescue organisation?

Answer: We are always open to hearing what our community needs and how we may be able to assist. We do have strict rules of engagement that outline when Animal Air Rescue should be used and why. The rescue organisations that partner with us are given this structure to help when booking. If you would like to know more send us an email otherwise if you have an emergency rescue need contact your local group and alert them to Animal Air Rescues services to connect with us directly to further assist.
